In recent years, when ever someone would ask me what I’d like for my birthday or Christmas I’d stand their gulping like an open mouthed fish as in honesty I don’t really need anything. It’s always nice to have a few gifts to unwrap or to wrap for friends / family so at the start of the year I’ve kept a note on my phone whenever I spotted something that I thought I’d like as a gift or would make a great gift for a friend. Hence this gift list was born. Not Christmas focused its intended as the list to help you whenever you get stuck either choosing for yourself or someone else. Equally if you want to get organised super early for Christmas then these gift ideas should help.
I’m always up for supporting small businesses and independent retailers so the majority of the sellers below aren’t on the high street, they’re independent folk so please do support them if you see something you like. Also to be clear none of the gift list links here are affiliate, I’m not on any commission from a single seller – just sharing some bits that I’d genuinely jump for joy if I opened them on my birthday or Crimbo.
I’m a sucker for matchboxes, I have them on display in our utility room in a cute wire shelving unit, so either this Letterpress matchbox from the Snowdonia Candle Company or these rainbow matches are also very pretty. So pop these on your gift list pronto. Whilst we’re burning stuff I was intrigued by this white sage bundle. I didn’t know when burnt it can banish negative feelings, so I’d definitely like to try this or gift it to a friend in need of a pick me up.
Chocoholics, have you heard of The Chocolate Smiths? They hand make mind blowingly amazing chocolate, so good it sells out in minutes of them releasing a new batch on their website. The Peanut Clutter Bizarre bar would be my go to…. followed by the Salted Caramel. Yum. But I’m also curious… bubblegum bizarre, what do you reckon to that?
My one big high street retailer making the list is H & M home with these gold coloured rim glasses, I smash glasses in my sink too often with my clumsy washing up so these are a decent enough price to feel special but not enough to make me cry floods if I break them.
I love to read so books are always a winner. I heard great things from various people I follow on Instagram about this book by Caroline Millington, after all I think we could all try and be a bit kinder to ourselves.
When I eventually kick the ugly 1960s bathroom at our house in to touch I want to fill it with lots of beautiful bits, you know ‘show towels’ that are rolled up and not to be used and gorgeous soaps. Coral and Moss have this chunky handmade soap on a rope that would fit my category of too gorgeous to use but would look ace on display!
Betsy Benn Notebook, plus you can use this one time gift code (BetsyXmas10) on Betsy’s website for 10% off anything, I also really love this bold typographical print. Now I know some really cool business women in my life and plenty of them I’d love to gift this Lello Living print to. Sterling silver earrings from Evy designs, love the hug and kisses design (get 10% off with code evy10 at checkout). Quite possibly the most beautiful and unique foodie gift I’ve ever seen are these Thai desserts from Pransuk, I’d love the Sampannee, so pretty and no doubt tasty. For 15% off at Pransuk use the code BYESUMMER21 at checkout – valid for the next two weeks.
When my daughter is older I’d like to gift her this set of five inspirational women peg dolls, I think the detail is ace and know she’ll be interested in their back stories. Going away? Then Martha and Hepsie have this cute Leopard Wash bag that would keep all my make up and wash bits together.
Self care I’m pretty rubbish at, my friend Jess (@abrunetteedit) always shares amazing beauty suggestions and a couple of products I would love to pamper myself with are the Balance Me Congested Skin Mask, plus some of the Murad Vitamin C range. I also would love the Origins Ginzing tinted moisturiser, I have used their overnight moisturiser for the past year and it was amazing so this SPF 40 energy boosting moisturiser is definitely a lovely gift I’d love to receive or give to a mate.
Terrazzo is so cool and this Catton Cove tray is perfect for all my little trinkets. Do you know Basket Basket? They sell totally amazing French and African baskets, there are honestly too many for me to choose a favourite. Have a peep and I know you’ll find a basket you’ll love too.
I am not a huge jewellery wearer, one necklace, one bracelet and my wedding ring is my go to so this necklace by Bish Bosh Becca is up my street, simple and beautiful. Plus I’m always up for personalisation. I also adored these Rose Gold pendants and would love to get one for me and Poppy when she’s a bit older.
Ian Mankin sells natural and organic fabrics with signature stripes and checks. Too much to choose from – I mean those striped cushions are lush! But to utterly push the boat out, it would have to be the deckchairs, super stylish at the top of the garden.
I always think subscription gifts are the gift that keeps on giving, so whether its a magazine subscription, pretty stationery or a wine subscription you can’t go wrong. It’s always good to give a gift that is useful, so to be able to bake or cook would be valued – alas not by my waistline. Hobbs House is local to me but there are tons of good bakers offering similar courses.
Clothes and Shoes
My knickers are more apple catchers than pretty so I’m determined to overhaul the greys and pretty up my knicker drawer. Cheek Frills were voted the world’s most comfortable knicker by the Sunday Times Magazine, so I’ve got these limited edition palm tree knickers on my treat list. Plus if you sign up to their mailing list you can get 10% off an order. Trainers are my staple footwear, heels sadly are old me these days. I love these Cru signature trainers from Air and Grace, these electric blue ones are my favourites but sadly out of stock at the moment…..so I’ll have to swoon over these retro Kawasaki daps instead, loads of amazing colour to choose from.
Nightware is something I need as my current collection is faded, old and a bit shameful. These Scamp & Dude PJs are a treat, more than I’d tend to pay myself so would be a real nice gift to be given.
This baseball hat. Probably at the top of my list of lovely things that I’d wear to death and great for those haven’t got time to wash my hair mornings. Saying that, if you take a look at this ETSY store I’d be happy to receive any of the stuff here. My taste totally.
Autumn is approaching and this oversized chunky scarf from haveamooch is pretty perfect for those chilly school run mornings.
Finally, last but not least on my gift list is to suggest you take a look at Matt & Nat if you’re still stuck for ideas of what you’d really love for your birthday or Christmas, their vegan bags and trainers are probably my favourite thing on their website but I’ve no doubt you’ll spot many other things you’d love to be gifted.
Has this helped you stop scratching your head for gift ideas? Wave this page under the nose of someone next time you get asked ‘What do you want for your birthday / Christmas?’. I hope its been helpful and you’ve discovered some brands you maybe didn’t know about too? Happy shopping!
